Pet of the Month December 2010
In Loving Memory
Our December Pet of the Month winner is "Basco". He was a nearly 15 year old Shepherd Mix.
His family shares the following story:
Tabasco, or Basco to us, was our trial run for children almost 14 1/2 years ago. When we found him at the Animal Shelter, the only information they had on him was "he will lick to no end". Not only did he give us kisses and unconditional love all those years, but his strength and gentle spirit had an impact on many that met him. Our family will always be thankful for the love and care WFVH staff gave Basco (and us) during his many visits. He taught us many things throughout his years, and I know his spirit will continue to live within us every day. 1996-2010.
To Basco's family: We will always remember our dear sweet friend, Basco. Thank you for allowing us to share in the life of this wonderful boy.
Pet of the Month November 2010
Our November Pet of the Month winner is "Belle". She is a 9 year old Miniature Schnauzer.
Her dad shares the following information:
"Belle" loves to play with my niece Kylie. She likes to go "Bye Bye" in the car!
Pet of the Month October 2010
Our October Pet of the Month winner is "Ripken". He is a 4 year old Labrador Retriever.
His mom shares the following information:
"Ripken" is a versatile boy! He has earned his Working Certificate hunting title, and competes in a variety of American Kennel Club events including Conformation and Rally Obedience. "Ripken" is a volunteer blood donor with the Eastern Veterinary Blood Bank and has also been a volunteer visitor with children and school groups. "Ripken" is a love-bug and joyfully greets everyone he meets.

Our September Pet of the Month winner is "Augie Doggie". She is a six month old Spaniel Mix.
Pet of the Month August 2010
Our August Pet of the Month winners are "Shadow" and "Angel". They are 7 month old Domestic Short Hair kittens.
Their family shares the following story:
"We wanted kittens in our life again and picked out these two. When they got home they went right to the guest bed and hid between the covers for the next couple of days."
It looks like Angel still likes to be between the covers!

In loving memory...
Our July Pet of the Month winner is "Rosie". We said goodbye to "Rosie" this month, she was a dearly loved 10 and 1/2 year old hound mix who lost her battle with kidney disease.
"Rosie's" mom shares the following story:
"Rosie" gave us ten wonderful years of nothing but love; unconditional love. I and my family will be forever greatful to the Humane Society for the wonderful pet they gave us and to West Frederick Veterinary Hospital for all the love and care you have all provided, not only for Rosie but for our past friends, Cinnamon and Spunky, and for Osiris, Angel, and Mara. Thank you!
Pet of the Month June 2010
Our June Pet of the Month winner is "Harley". "Harley" is a one year old Pitt Bull/Labrador mix.
"Harley's" family shares the following story:
"Harley" was hit by a car and his leg was amputated. I went with my friend, who was looking for a dog, to a high kill shelter and brought him home hours before he was about to be euthanized. He is a happy healthy three legged dog.

Our May Pet of the Month winner is "Graceland Birdsong". "Graceland Birdsong" is a 9 year old Silver Tabby Maine Coon.
"Graceland's" mom shares the following story:
"Graceland" has liver problems and has been on medications for about 5 years. She has to have blood drawn once a month. I give her her meds on the kitchen chair every morning. If I forget she will sit in the chair and meow rather loudly until I give them to her. She is also quite the chanteuse.

Our April Pet of the Month winner is "Charlie". "Charlie" is a 3 year old Yellow Lab mix.
"Charlie's" family shares the following story:
We do bunny rescue through the House Rabbit Society. Our most recent rescue had babies. Charlie loves to lick them like he is their mom! They hop all over him.
Pet of the Month March 2010
Our March Pet of the Month winner is "Timber". "Timber" is a 10 year old Australian Shepherd.
"Timber's" family shares the following story:
Timber does many funny things that make us love him so much. He is the biggest "smiler". He smiles at everyone. He also rings a bell to go outside. Timber sings when my son plays the sax and he often gets up in a chair to eat dinner with us.

Our February Pet of the Month winner is "Rascal". "Rascal" is a 1 and 1/2 year old Pit Bull/Shepherd Mix.
"Rascal's" mom shares the following story:
When we brought him home, we had decided to name him "Roscoe". My daughter could not say "Roscoe", it came out "Rascal" and the name stuck!

Our January Pet of the Month winner is "Eleanor". "Eleanor" is a 3 and 1/2 year old Pug.
"Eleanor's" mom shares the following story:
"Eleanor" put on her Santa hat for Christmas and yawned. The yawn appeared to be her screaming "Get this thing off me"!!
She is a love bug. She is always napping with somone: she sleeps wtih mom and when mom gets up at 6am she goes and naps with Raylee, age 12!
Each month we will feature one of our patients as our "Pet of the Month". To enter the raffle, obtain a card from the Reception Desk and fill it out while you are with us for your pet's appointment. On the card you'll let us know your name, your pet's name, and give us a story about your pet.
We will also take a digital photo of your pet to display on our website.
At the end of the month we will draw one card from that month's entries to be featured as our "Pet of the Month".
New Prize! Winners will receive a "Life is Good" T-Shirt that declares "Life is good... pets make it better"!
